Taco Sauce
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 (16-ounce) can whole tomatoes, undrained
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded
1 small onion, sliced
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
Garnish: seeded jalapeno pepper slices
Place a small skillet over medium high heat until hot; add
cumin seeds and cook, stirring constantly until the seeds are more fragrant and
lightly browned. Let cool. Combine cumin seeds, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers,
onion, garlic, salt and pepper in container of an electric blender or food
processor; process until blended. Pour into a medium saucepan, and bring to a
boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Garnish, if desired.
